CHICAGO (AP) - The U.S. soccer team will open its 2013 schedule with an exhibition game against Canada at Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium on Jan. 29.
The Americans will hold a training camp from Jan. 14-27 in Carson, Calif. The U.S. has pushed back and shortened the annual camp, which started in 2004 and is mostly for players from Major League Soccer and Scandinavian teams on winter break.
Seeking their seventh straight World Cup appearance, the Americans open the final round of World Cup qualifying Feb. 6 against Honduras at San Pedro Sula.
Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama also are in the six-nation group, which will produce three qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The fourth-place team advances to a playoff for another berth, likely against New Zealand.
The U.S. and Canada tied 0-0 on June 3 in Toronto. The U.S. Soccer Federation announced next month's game Monday.
